The Old Caravan In The Bush.

That was my home for 5 years.

The blue tarp was to stop the roof from leaking.

A metaphor for my life.

Like a reset.

The old caravan was like a womb and the Wombat Forest was the rest of the world.

What if I could start again.

The typical Mid-Life Crisis.

Is this the chance we all have to reset, to start again?

In the midst of what we already have?

We’ve tested the waters of our chosen career.

Maybe we’ve proved we can do it.

Or not.

Our soul is crying out to be heard.

What are we here for?

What is our true destiny?

Do you have a destiny wanting to speak?

Your caravan in the bush?

I had no choice.

My one-man freelance business went bankrupt.

I lost everything.

I had no choice but to start again.

I had to let go.

There’s a wisdom saying, Buddhist I think . . .

What you let go of, which is truly yours, shall be returned to you tenfold.

It was true for me.

I had to let go.

The Universe is there to support you.

It did me.

May the Force be with you.

I had untold adventures.

Other countries to visit.

Books to write.

Of my stories.

They’re all here.

Your destiny awaits.

Your story.

Waiting to be told.

You’ll need to have it first.

Starting from where you are,

Start and everything else will follow.

It’s my secret.

Love and peace.

Neil the Smith

Your Mind is Your Guardian Angel.

Listen to it.

Your mind knows all.

It’s that still small voice in your head.

Because your mind is the link between you and your soul.

Your mind is your soul guiding you.

Not your physical brain.

Your mind.

It can’t be measured, weighed, seen, evaluated or removed.

It’s what leaves us at the time our physical body gives up the ghost and ceases to be a living creature.

It’s our mind that our body “gives up”.

It’s the secret of eternal life.

Of reincarnation.

Of eternal youth.

So listen to your mind.

Follow its guidance.

It’s your guardian.

Don’t believe me?

Start listening and testing its advice and you’ll become hooked.

You don’t need to change anything or do anything or spend anything.

Just be still and listen.

Love and peace.

Namaste.

It’s All About the Job, Not About You.

Or is the job about you and your health?

There’s a conflict here.

A dilemna.

How is it to be resolved.

Do you want a job that you love, your passion, or not.

The answer is, passion is your starting point.

Take your passion, make it happen.

They’re the words from the movie ‘Flashdance’.

It’s a secret to changing the world.

Ourselves.

Quietly.

Ethically.

The world is an orchestra.

Each of us playing our part, like an instrument.

Our instrument is our passion.

What we love.

If you haven’t found your passion yet, then you need time to find it.

Not be pressured into taking a job you hate.

Like 85% of the rest of the world (according to a Gallop poll over 160 countries)*

No wonder the world’s orchestra is in disharmony.

From a soul perspective, there’s a part written for you.

One that will create harmony and health in your world as well as the whole world.

A score written just for you.

Go find it.

There’s a plan in place to deal with this.

It’s called the Universal Basic Income.

I’ve written about it in my new book.

We can do better.

That is, if we are to change the world.

To make this a better world.

To improve our lives.

Instead of making our lives unpleasant in our daily experience.

Love and peace.

What Happens When You Die?

A long time ago, far far away, I had a chance meeting with a Wise Woman.

She became a good friend.

Until she died of cancer a few years later.

She was the Librarian at the Melbourne Theosophical Society.

Their Headquarters is in Adyar, India.

With a motto of ‘There is no religion higher than truth’ they encourage the study of all religions.

I was in.

I threw myself into my own study of all spiritual philosophies.

Including what happens when we die.

Today I feel that our soul survives this lifetime.

And is reborn.

Lately I’ve been thinking:

Do I really want to leave this beautiful world?

With all its problems?

What if my next life is on an alien planet with no trees or birds or the smell of cut grass?

What if it’s all black-and-white without colour?

Or what if it’s a world of thought without physical form?

This is not such a bad place to live if only we could clean up the mess.

The poverty.

The destruction.

So let’s do it.

All of us who care.

You and me.

We already live in a world of thought.

Our thoughts need physical bodies to work though.

How can we clean up our beautiful planet alone?

Others are trying.

But how can we do it alone.

I know the answer:

With our thoughts.

Trouble is, isn’t it our thoughts that have created and maintained today’s messed up world.

From the pollution to the violence.

Physically others are doing all they can.

Then there’s our thoughts.

It’s your thoughts, together with mine and others, that could do the trick.

With our thought we can be there, everywhere, in a thought.

We can avoid the cruel television dramas.

The violent movies.

The computer war games.

The selective brain washing evening news.

We can replace that with our thoughts of the world we want, not the world that amuses us.

“With our thoughts we make the world,” the Buddha said.

Is it our only hope to create the world we want.

Think big but let’s think change.

Think about it.

Tip #2 in my Secret To Staying Young For Zero Cost: Beware Of Entropy.

Every physical thing rises and falls.

Like the Roman Empire.

Like ghost towns fallen from their heyday.

Like us.

We’re firstly young then we get old.

And when we’re young we don’t think about old.

In today’s modern world we don’t want to think about old.

Until, one day, old arrives.

That’s entropy

So my Tip #2 is: don’t ever think old.

Always think you’re young.

Even if you think you’re getting old.

Always think young.

Always do young things.

Think young thoughts.

Be with young people.

Always thinking’

Keep the weeds out of your mind.

That’s my secret to cast entropy aside.

Now you know about it you can do something about it.

How hard can it be to always think you’re young.

Is this the new trend?

Is young the new old.

It’s also a law of physics.

Known as the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

So why don’t we know about this?

Why?

Why does our body get struck down with physical illnesses when we still have an active brain, a mind, a soul?

But entropy only cares about your body, not your mind or your soul.

Why must it be so.

So what if the only way to stop entropy is to intervene when we’re still young?

Has entropy always been a missing factor?

The elephant in the room.

We live in a time when we have knowledge and wisdom, or the source of, at our fingertips.

I mean the fingertips we use to search, or to chat, online for whatever we need.

In an instant.

Does wisdom come from having adventures and living a full life?

Today it’s easier to have adventures from where we are.

Adventures of the mind.

Staying young.

That shouldn’t stop us from living our adventure.

Do you ever think about living longer, or better, because of what you think?

About what’s in your mind?

Think about it.

Let’s tackle entropy right now.

Costs nothing.

Take care.

What Is a Soul Mate?

Everyone today seems to be searching for their soul mate.
Or do they mean twin soul?
Or twin flame?
What is the difference, if there is one, between a twin soul and a soul mate?
Have you ever thought about it?
Whenever someone talks to me about searching for their soul mate I ask them,
“Or do you mean twin soul?”
And most of the time I get a blank look as if to say,
“I never thought of that.”
So what is the difference between a soul mate and a twin soul? If there is one.
Twin souls are, well, like twins.
They come from the same soul, or womb, and are here to achieve a common or similar goal, either together or independently.
Both Darwin and Wallace arrived at much the same theory of evolution at the same time, so they were twin souls who, rather than working in collaboration, developed the same theories, concurrently but independently.
Like insurance, if one didn’t get it the other one probably would.
Logarithms, you’ll be interested to know, were discovered by both John Napier of Scotland and Joost Burgi of Switzerland around the same time.
The microchip was invented twice within half a year of each other, first by Jack Kilby (1958) and then Robert Noyce (1959).
So what are soul mates and how are they different from a twin soul?
Soul mates are different souls, mates, who may have known each other in past lives, who feel a strong bond with each other or who have agreed to meet up to help each other or to learn from each other, often as a teacher for the other.
“You complete me” are the words of a soul mate.
“I am complete” are the words of a twin soul.
They can be your closest friend or someone who irritates you no end, depending on what their purpose is in being mates and what you need to teach/learn.
I’ve been told that I see my greatest faults in my partner.
Soul mate.
I’d like to think that the subjects of some of the greatest love stories in history might have agreed to meet again as soul mates to live out uncompleted lives.
To complete each other.
Love at first sight.
Did Lancelot and Guinevere and other tragic love stories return as soul mates?
What if you were one of them.
There are many theories on the question of what is a soul?
Mine is that the essence of our soul or higher self is what animates our physical body.
Not our soul but its essence.
Imagine that your soul is like a vast ocean which began as a clear ocean of water aeons ago.
With each lifetime a bucketful of the water from the clear ocean is drawn as the essence of a single lifetime.
That is not your soul but the essence of your soul.
The experiences of each lifetime you’ve ever lived accumulate in that ocean and therefore in that bucket of water, let’s say as colours, a different colour for each experience which are returned to the ocean when we die.
Suppose this happens over and over with each lifetime and the once clear water of the ocean becomes coloured with the experiences of every lifetime.
Each life adds more colours (experiences) to your ocean and each new life’s individual essence contains the colours (experiences) of that life to add to the ocean of coloured water.
I’d prefer to call it essence not soul.
Atman which is Brahman.
Essence which is soul.
So twin souls would be two bucketfuls draw from the same ocean.
Soul mates, on the other hand, are bucketfuls of coloured water drawn from different oceans.
Then there are group souls.
Group souls need to socialise.
Have you ever wondered why a flock of birds in flight all change direction at precisely the same moment?
It’s because most birds and animals are members of a group soul.
So were we, I believe, in ages past.
Then we, at some point, break away and individuate.
Then we are complete.

Love and Peace,

Neil

What Does Your Soul Look Like?

“What is a soul,” enquired the little boy of his father (Cary Grant) in the 1958 movie ‘Houseboat’?

Your soul is like a vast ocean., he replied as they dangled their bare legs over the deck of their houseboat, gazing out across the water.

Created maybe aeons ago.

At first, let’s say, the water was crystal clear.

Natural.

Pure.

Then you had your first lifetime, maybe aeons ago.

You had a body, maybe not even physical, but a body of some kind.

And that first body needed life.

To stay with the same ocean metaphor, a life was drawn from that pure ocean like a bucket of water taken from it.

So that bucketful of water, your essence of your new life, was added to your physical body.

Your body, in whatever form, then had life.

At that point you became a living being.

Full of life.

Your soul is like the ocean and the water drawn from that ocean is the essence, a fragment, a reflection of the ocean.

It is a part of your soul but not you soul, if you know what I mean.

Same but different.

Connected but apart from the ‘mother soul’.

That’s how I remember the conversation.

Maybe I’ve editorialised just a little to fit my own thinking.

With each lifetime, let’s say, you had adventures and experiences.

And let’s say that every experience, every emotion, everything we learn is a colour and,, over time, each bucketful of water taken from the vast ocean becomes coloured.

Each bucketful of water is emptied into the vast ocean at the end of each lifetime.

Over the years that ocean is coloured with the waters of our lives.

Ending up today, let’s say, with soul ocean coloured by every lifetime we’ve ever had.

So with each bucketful taken from an ocean of coloured water we begin a new life coloured by our past.

A past we probably don’t remember.

And so we enter every new life with an essence of our many, many pasts.

Only to add more colours this time.

We are both our soul and an essence of soul.

This essence contains many clues to our present including our Destiny.

Is this your idea of soul?

Love and Peace.

Neil.

How Entropy Can Stop You From Ageing. Even At 30.

Entropy is a secret code word for eternal youth.

It’s also a law of physics.

Known as the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

So why don’t we know about this?

Every physical thing rises and falls.

Like the Roman Empire.

Like ghost towns fallen from their heyday.

Like us.

We’re firstly young then we’re old.

And when we’re young we don’t want to think about old.

In today’s modern world we don’t want to think about old.

Until, one day, old arrives.

That’s entropy.

Why?

Why does our body get struck down with physical illnesses when we still have an active brain, a mind, a soul?

But entropy only cares about your body, not your mind or your soul.

Why must it be so.

So what if the only way to stop entropy is to intervene when we’re still young?

Should our ever-ageing body be subject to an anti-ageing consciousness while time is still on our side?

And should we be consciously seeking wisdom at an early age so that, if and when entropy arrives, we still have a timeless mind to outlive our ageing bodies?

To outlive and conquer entropy?

Then, if we believe that our mind creates our reality, maybe we have a shot at expecting long life, even in a physical sense.

How else can we defeat, or delay, entropy?

Yes, living longer and better can be about what we eat

And looking after our body.

And other factors.

And then there’s entropy.

Do we ever think about entropy?

Could that be another key factor in growing old?

Or not.

Granted, today it’s easier to have adventures from where we are.

Adventures of the mind.

That shouldn’t stop us from living your adventure.

To be sure, living longer can be about what we eat.

It could be about taking care of our body.

Do you ever think about living longer, or better, because of what you think.

About what’s in your mind?

Think about it.

Let’s tackle entropy right now.

Take care.

Why Do We Age?

It’s called ‘entropy’.

Entropy explains the rise and fall of everything.

From The Roman Empire to you and me.

Maybe it’s a Law of the Universe.

It’s the Second Law of Thermodynamics in physics.

Everything rises and falls, ashes to ashes, have you noticed.

But does it need to?

How does it steal our age?

WHY DOES EVERYTHING NEED TO RISE AND FALL?

Why does everything that has been created need to fall into disarray?

Including you and me.

That’s a good question.

And the answer is: entropy.

“Entropy is a scientific concept as well as a measurable physical property that is most commonly associated with a state of disorder, randomness, or uncertainty.” (Wikipedia)

Rise and fall, ashes to ashes, ageing.

It’s a physical thing.

But then, perhaps there’s another quality that isn’t subject to entropy.

Our mind.

The mind only ages when our physical self tells it that we age.

The legacy of the Roman Empire is surely mind stuff, its art, its thought, its spirit.

Its ruins are only the physical part.

Its soul remains.

Forever.

IS THAT THE SECRET OF LONGEVITY?

For our mind to tell our body not to age.

Not the other way around.

Should we stop believing that we grow old when our mind is forever young?

To have our mind tell our body it’s not old.

Instead of our body telling us, you’re old.

IS THE ANSWER TO KEEP THINKING YOUNG?

Do The New Age & Physics Hold The Secret Of Eternal Youth?

Has the Age of Aquarius dawned and passed?

Is the New Age still about hippies and drugs?

Not any more.

I was there when it dawned in the ’60s and ’70s.

And the New Age of Aquarius still has over 2,000 to go.

So we’re still living at the dawning of a new age.

I want to update everything I know and everything I’ve learned about that astrological revolution.

It’s my first post in new ideas, and old ideas updated, in New Age thinking.

My New Age thinking.

I was a child of the New Age, the Age of Aquarius, going back 60 years.

And we got some of it wrong.

Now in 2022 I want to get it right.

Or more right.

Let’s start with doing something about our age.

CAN WE SLOW DOWN GROWING OLD AND STAYING HEALTHY?

Yes.

It’s called ‘entropy’.

What is entropy?

Entropy explains the rise and fall of everything.

From The Roman Empire to you and me.

If you like, it’s a Law of the Universe.

It’s the Second Law of Thermodynamics in physics.

Everything rises and falls, ashes to ashes, have you noticed.

But does it need to?

How does it steal our age?

It’s my first updated revised down-to-earth ‘New Age’ concept.

But then, there’s another quality that isn’t subject to entropy.

Our mind.

The mind only ages when our physical self tells it that we age.

The legacy of the Roman Empire is surely mind stuff, its art, its thought, its spirit.

Its ruins are only the physical part.

Its soul remains.

Forever.

MAYBE THAT’S THE SECRET OF LONGEVITY.

For our mind to tell our body not to age.

Not the other way around.

Let’s stop believing that we grow old when our mind is forever young.

Have your mind tell your body it’s not old.

Instead of our body telling us, you’re old.

KEEP THINKING YOUNG.

Are We All Trapped In Our Own Group Soul?

Watch a flock of birds as they all change direction at precisely the same time.

Why?

Because every bird in the flock is trapped in their group soul.

As are we?

Is this why we have become social animals through the urge to gravitate to our own group soul and why we can feel miserable when we’re rejected by our group of friends?

Chances are we’ll seek to join another group soul or social group.

Is it because loners, or introverts, tend to be regarded as unfriendly or anti-social because they choose not to belong to a group soul?

And are we all on a path to individuate?

To become whole, complete within ourselves?

Could this be the soul destiny of the human race?

In other words, have the extraverts taken over not realising that they are living out the phenomenon of belonging to their group soul?

Is socialising another word for maintaining the group soul?

And a resistance to individuating?

When I was studying philosophy at university the question was: “Is football a religion?”

At the time my answer was probably yes, but today I would more likely reply that it’s the wrong question.

The real question, for me now, would be: “Do football and religion each have group souls?”

My answer now would be, that is the common denominator of the two.

Group souls can each have a different make-up.

A theme that will attract those seeking a common purpose or goal that they feel they can fit in with.

And, who knows, maybe we’re drawn to elements in our soul’s make-up from the time we are born.

Our workplace is a group soul.

Our social media are group souls.

Our friends are a group soul.

Moving out of one can be full of difficulty.

Moving into another, the same.

Moving from one to another, wow, that can mean trouble.

Is this a reason why 85% of us* are unhappy in our jobs, because we’re in the wrong group soul?

Surely, as we well know, moving into your own space, your own life, your own reality, well, that’s a courageous move.

Maybe that’s our soul’s destiny, an evolution that today is just beginning and which we find ourselves caught up in.

We need to decide whether to be carried along with the group, like the flock of birds flying within the same mentality, or are we to choose our own way, follow our own path, to individuate.

No matter what the rest of the flock says.

Could this be the answer to many of our life’s and social problems?

Best wishes

Soul. The Second Evolution.

Are we all trapped in a sandwich between our human side and our souls?

With each pulling us in opposite directions?

One, our souls, largely unknown and a mystery to most?

Much debated, the subject of much speculation but, without scientific proof, having very little solid evidence with which to even support its very existence.

I want to change this.

The other, our human evolution, devouring our lives and our core beliefs because it has always been the only option on the menu?

Until now we’ve been led to believe the pull is in only one direction.

That all we have is an open sandwich

Salad on rye.

What if there’s a whole new philosophy of evolution – that maybe there are two evolutions going on in our lives, in our world, and not the one we’ve come to accept as the one and only evolution.

Maybe our lives, our world, is not only about the survival of the fittest and natural selection in life.

Maybe there is also a theory of the soul.

Soul evolution.

Have we been trying to make sense of who we are and where we came from, and where we are going, when all along we’ve been the healthy salad in a sandwich between the two.

And while my philosophy of soul evolution can’t be supported by scientific proof, I will offer in future blog posts compelling evidence for a soul sandwich.

My philosophy of two evolutions.

My evidence comes from Carl Jung, ancient Greeks Socrates and Plato, scholars Joseph Campbell and James Hillman, to name a few.

I invite you to follow my blog and receive future emails that reveal my philosophy of the Soul Sandwich that I believe can reset the rest of our lives.
