Young Is The New Old.

Why Not.

What’s stopping us from staying young.

Even when we’re feeling a little bit old.

Is ‘old’ such a dirty word.

Because old can be the new young.

Easy.

Your body will follow your mind.

How your mind works is the secret to how your body works.

Yes, your body can be the result of regular visits to the gym.

But doesn’t your mind tell you to go?

Your mind is really a control freak.

It’ll tell you if it thinks you need it.

And have you been told lately?

About anything.

About what your mind tells you that you need?

Even what your body tells you what you need.

You don’t always need to visit the gym

What do you need?

Yoga?

Stretching?

Meditation?

Walking the dog?

You’ll be told.

Are you listening?

As a winner of an award for excellence in business creativity said:

“I just trust my beeps.”

Start listening to your beeps and there’s a good chance you may be an award winner too.

Even for turning your age into an example of the New Young.

Read the book Ageless Body, Timeless Mind’ by Dr Deepak Chopra.

Everyone should read it.

I have no financial interest, I just believe in it’s message.

And its author.

It’s how we can stay younger healthier longer.

At least we should do something about keeping our minds and bodies going long after the ‘old’ word takes hold.

It’s certainly not in my vocabulary.

I wish you long life and a happy one.

Neil.

What’s The Secret To A Natural All Time High?

I know because I’ve found it.

Let me explain.

Okay, like James Bond, let’s take on the world, but in a slightly different way.

Positive thought + creativity.

That’s my own formula.

It works.

For 10 years I was working on my book ‘My Amazing Romantic Paranormal Regency Adventure’.

I was living in a treetop flat with a view to the ocean.

What more could I ask for a place to write my heart out.

A very creative life.

A very positive outlook.

Every day, once my mind was in gear and the words were starting to flow, I was on a high.

A natural, creative, positive high.

So every day for 10 years I lived the good life.

On an all time high.

Simply by being creative in a so positive and natural environment.

I know, not everyone can do that.

There were times I lived the exact opposite.

I grew up in poverty.

I’ve been bankrupt.

So I’ve known both extremes.

It’s enough that I found the positive, creative life living close to Nature.

And I used that to write.

The book is the evidence.

It’s there if you want to see for yourself the result of living an all time natural high.

If you want that kind of life now you can create it in your mind instead.

I Went to Yoga Classes at a Hindu Yoga Ashram in Australia.

I was living alone in a caravan in Central Victoria, Australia.

A group of us went off once a week to a Hindu Ashram in the middle of nowhere for yoga nidra lessons.

And a very memorable time.

I was living in a caravan in Central Victoria.

A friend was a member of the nearby Rocklyn Yoga Ashram.

The ashram was located in a peaceful retreat centre in the heart of the Wombat Forest.

I’d already learned chakra yoga with Australia’s first full time yoga teacher.

Margrit Segesman taught me a form of yoga that I practiced daily for over 50 years.

There were 10 asanas or positions based on balancing the 7 major chakras.

I believe they kept me healthy and physically and mentally well for most of my life.

You should think about learning chakra yoga too.

No matter what your age.

I was 24.

Both yoga and chakra balancing are beneficial in so many ways.

And yoga is relaxing for starters.

Margrit Segesman’s interest in breathing and relaxation techniques branched into an interest in the expansion of consciousness, a subject she had discussed with Carl Jung when they met in the 1920s.

He suggested the study of yoga and yogic philosophy and reading The Science of Breath by Yogi Ramacharaka.

As well as studying philosophy, she developed her own progressive yoga relaxation technique that she later incorporated into her classes.

After spending time in Indian ashrams, she found her guru at Rishikesh on the Tibetan border and spent about five years living in a cave as an ascetic:

“For years I knew nothing else but meditation, raja yoga, hatha yoga, the intense practices of kriya and tantra, [and the] study of cosmology and evolution,” she later wrote.”

When she set up her school, she found Melbournians were keen to embrace yoga which was still considered to be very ‘new and exotic’ for Australia.

However, following a radio interview about her relaxation technique, Margrit was inundated with students and so took the step to full-time teaching.

When she embarked on her voyage from Switzerland in 1954, Margrit planned to travel to Sydney, but mistakenly stepped off the boat in Melbourne instead.

The Gita School of Yoga was Australia’s first full-time yoga school with its own permanent premises, offering classes each week day and night.

I remember having to step carefully along a narrow pebbled path to arrive at the front door – beginning class with a walking meditation.

A class then consisted of limbering, ten basic yoga asanas with many variations, breathing practices and relaxation.

On 22 September 1960 the Gita School of Yoga opened at 21 Alfred Place, Melbourne, which ran alongside St Paul’s Cathedral.

Soon after I was there as one of her early students.

Be well and healthy.

3 Secrets Of Staying Young.

I started my plan to stay young at the age of 24 when I enrolled in the first full-time yoga school in Australia, the Gita School of Yoga.

Ever since I have practiced the 10 chakra asanas (positions) I learned every day without fail for the next 50 years.

So this is the basis of my first secret to staying young.

Secret 1. Take care of your body.

Learn the basic yoga positions and perform them every morning, like the first thing you do on getting out of bed so it becomes routine. Search ‘Chakra Yoga’.

Do muscle stretching daily with gentle exercises, for me it was mostly lying on the mat, to strengthen the muscles that support your spine and lower back. Search Callan Pinkney books or videos.

Buy an electric massage chair. Everyone should have one. Even to relax your body after mowing the lawn, it’s magical. Get the vibration type not the roller type.

Walk. I lost my car when my business and I went bankrupt 30 years ago and I’ve walked everywhere since.

At that time I was having trouble with my lower back and my legs, which caused me to take up the muscle stretching and persist with the yoga.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with lumbar canal stenosis which I believe had been kept at bay for those 28 years by my exercise program.

Still, they told me I’d never walk again and would be wheelchair bound for the rest of my life; well I’m still walking (with the help of a support) and there’s no wheelchair in sight.

Whatever you do, keep moving.

Secret 2. Keep your mind active.

I’ve written and self-published 5 books in the last 20 years. They’re not novels as everyone expects them to be. They’re non-fiction, about what I’ve learned about life (just like this blog post).

I write and publish a blog post every weekend.

I also post to my Twitter timeline and to 30 Facebook Fan Pages once a week at least.

I’m thinking about writing my next book.

I meditate once a week with a group of people under a teacher.

Secret 3. Your thoughts create your reality.

Think young. Think well.

You are not the statistic that represents the number of times the Earth has travelled around the Sun since you were born.

For this reason I’m not going to tell you my age.

But when I turned 50 I was so horrified that I decided to always be 49. Which is my true age today.

Think about it.

I invite you to visit my Author Page listing all of my books, where you can read more or order your copy of any of them online.

Best wishes,

Neil
